BCBA-led treatmentEvery plan is designed and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. The hours come from the assessment, never from a quote given in advance.
Home, school and communitySessions happen where the behaviour happens — the kitchen table, the classroom, the supermarket — and by telehealth when that is the right setting.
Families included throughout careCaregiver training has its own goals and its own mastery criteria, so the skills leave the session and reach the daily routine.

Do you accept my insurance?
Two different things decide this, and it helps to keep them apart. What your plan covers: ABA therapy is a covered benefit under most plans when a child has a documented autism diagnosis and a doctor has established medical necessity, though the specifics vary by plan. Whether we can bill your plan: American Institute of Mental Health is an approved Florida Medicaid provider, private pay is welcome, and we are completing credentialing with major commercial and managed-care plans — until that is complete, services should not be treated as covered by those payers. Either way we check your benefits for free and tell you where you stand before anything is scheduled. Where we stand with each plan is here.
Does Florida Medicaid cover ABA therapy?
Yes. ABA therapy is a covered benefit for children with a documented autism diagnosis and documented medical necessity, and we are an approved Florida Medicaid provider — so for an eligible child there is no cost to the family. How do I get started with ABA at American Institute of Mental Health?
Getting started is simple! Contact us by phone at (786) 652-6945 or through our Contact Page to schedule a free consultation. Our team will walk you through the intake process, help verify your insurance, and answer any questions you may have. From there, we'll schedule an initial assessment with a BCBA to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your loved one's unique needs and goals.
What ages do you serve?
All ages, from early intervention for toddlers of 18 months and up to adult services. Early intervention produces the best outcomes.
What areas do you serve?
All of South Florida: Miami Lakes, Doral, Hialeah, Kendall, Homestead, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Monroe County and surrounding communities.
What documents do I need to start?
Usually an insurance card, a prescription with the autism diagnosis, a medical necessity letter, a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation if you have one, and the IEP if your child attends public school. If something is missing, our intake team helps you get it.
What is ABA Therapy?
ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. It is widely recognized as the gold standard in evidence-based treatment for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ABA therapy uses scientifically validated techniques to understand behavior and how it is affected by the environment. Through systematic interventions, ABA helps improve socially significant behaviors such as communication, social skills, daily living skills, and academic performance while reducing challenging behaviors.
Where do sessions take place?
In the home, at school, in community settings, and by telehealth. The setting is decided from your child's needs.
